Police Raid Kidnappers’ Hideout, Rescue 14 Victims In Nasarawa

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have raided a kidnappers’ hideout, arrested five suspects and rescued 14 victims.

The police personnel attached to Toto Division in collaboration with some youths, stormed Achido village; a forest terrain bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kogi State on Monday and rescued the victims.

In a statementyesterday, the command’s public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the raid followed a tip-off on strange movements around the area.

Nansel said the rescued victims were residents of Kuje and Rubochi areas of Abuja, while others were from Lapai local government area of Niger State.

The victims included Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed and Auwal Adamu of Kuje, FCT, Hussaini Yakubu, Haruna Usman, Jibrin Bature, Isyaka Yakubu, Sule Bello and Yusuf Yusuf, all males from Lapai, Niger State.

Others were Yusuf Tashai, Kabiru Iliya both of Rubochi area of the FCT,  Sabo Yakubu, Sagir Iliya, and  Yunusa Danladi of Tanshi village, Kuje Area council, Abuja.

He said the five people arrested were responsible for supplying the kidnappers food and other essentials in the forest.

They were Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Kasim. Mustapha Adamu and Abdul Mohammed.

He said the suspects “confessed to being responsible for the supply of food to the kidnappers in the forest.”

DSP Nansel stated that the commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, reiterated “the command’s commitment to continuously partner with members of the community to rid the state of crime, and urged the public at all times to say something when they see something.”
