The institution’s vice-chancellor, Prof Timothy Adeyemo, disclosed this at a press conference on Wednesday, which heralded the third convocation and founder’s day ceremony.

Adeyemo stated that among the 118 students for the third convocation, 14 made first-class honours, 65 made second-class upper, 37 made second-class lower, and two made third-class.

He noted that the best-graduating student for the set (Legacy Set), Mr Abraham Akinwole, from the Department of Physical Sciences (Physics and Electronics), Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, made a CGPA of 4.98.

Adeyemo made it known that the week-long programme featured community service, a public lecture by an official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on ‘Combating Drug Abuse among Nigerian Youths: A Growing Concern’ on Wednesday and would feature an exhibition and novelty football match on Thursday, convocation play on Friday, vice chancellor’s dinner and variety evening on Saturday, as well as the 2024 foundation day thanksgiving service and special prayer and anointing on Sunday for the graduands by the Chancellor of the university, Bishop Wale Oke, who is the President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). The climax of the events will be held on Monday.

“The graduating students have been trained to stand out in their chosen fields despite the trend of mediocrity among youths. They are change-makers who are being released to be blessings and not burdens,” Adeyemo said.

He emphasised that they have been trained to be employers of labour and not job seekers, with the ability to commercialise their areas of specialisation. He added that each graduating student would receive an academic degree and entrepreneurship certification.
