The chairman of Abia State Disability Commission, David Anyaele, has assured Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the state of justice, inclusivity and sense of belonging.

Chairman of the commission, David Anyaele stated this while addressing PWDs protesting non-inclusive of their names among newly recruited teachers undergoing orientation in the state.

He directed the protesters to compile their full names, local government areas, contact details, and educational qualifications, and submit them directly to the Commission’s office.
He said, “I am aware of the request you made during the media chat, and I am also aware of His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti’s response,”

According to the chairman, the governor made it clear that his administration would give priority to people with disability in recruitment exercises in this state.
”In fact, that was why you were waived from participating in the Computer-Based Test (CBT), because state policy dictates that PWDs must not participate in it,” he said.

‎ ‎Speaking on behalf of the PWDs, Uchechi Chikwere and Nkechi Ebogu appealed to the governor to look into their case and ensure that qualified PWDs are given employment.

‎They explained that they responded to the government’s call for teacher recruitment and were shortlisted and invited for oral interviews by the Ministry of Education

‎”After the interview, able-bodied persons who passed were issued employment letters, while those of us with disabilities were not contacted,” Chikwere said.
