Yobe Spends N7.9bn On Basic Secondary Education – Commissioner

The Yobe State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Abba Idriss Adam, said the government has spent over N7 billion naira on the ministry.

The commissioner was reacting to a report by an online platform titled, „Yobe Government spends 3.8 billion on Sitting Allowances, Presidential Chalets, Records Zero Expenditure on Basic Education.“
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner, the Ministry‘s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Bukar Aji Bukar, stated that the state government had spent over N7.9 billion naira in the sector.

According to him, this includes the school‘s construction and renovations, school feedings, examination fees (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB), transportation for exchange students, procurement of instructional materials, and UBEC counterpart funding.

He added, „This is to tell you we have adequate allocation for basic and secondary education.“

You can also recall that since the inception of Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the state government has declared a state of emergency on primary and secondary education.
