The ongoing Financial Literacy and Inclusion Awareness Campaign organised by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) made a significant impact on the Kuje area council, drawing a large crowd of residents eager to find solutions for their business needs.

AEA’s Sensitisation Team engaged with participants, covering various areas of the council throughout the event.

A statement from AEA’s Team Lead for Corporate Communications, Mr Emmanuel Tortiv highlighted that facilitators shared valuable insights on topics such as tax education, financial planning, managing risks, financial fraud, and special counselling sessions for participants.

Tortiv quoted AEA’s Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chudi Ugwuada-Ezirigwe for commending the high turnout of Kuje residents, describing it a success.

Ugwuada-Ezirigwe encouraged staff to intensify their efforts in reaching out to the numerous business operators and residents seeking knowledge to help grow their enterprises.

Addressing journalists through Mrs Chidinma Nduka, the programme desk officer at AEA, the Managing Director highlighted Kuje Area Council’s potential for thriving businesses, noting the positive response from the community towards the initiative supported by the FCT administration.

He emphasised that the campaign would significantly contribute to the sustainability of local businesses and expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm shown by residents.

Access to business advisory services and financial support emerged at the end of the campaign as the most sought-after services by participants.

Additionally, many attendees expressed a need for more information to aid their business ventures.

Head of Partnerships and Strategy, Mallam Isiaka Usman echoed the success of the event, remarking on the impressive turnout from local business operators and SMEs.

“We witnessed a remarkable influx of individuals eager to learn how financial literacy can transform their businesses. Many expressed interest in registering with the Agency due to the informative sessions we provided,” he said.

A fashion designer, Adailo Yakubu and furniture maker, Nzeka Chukuma thanked the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike for improving infrastructure in their councils and enabling access to important educational programmes like the Financial Literacy Initiative.

“I came to buy basic items but left with invaluable knowledge. I plan to return to AEA for further financial education,” said 32-year-old Adailo.
