The Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum (ACCF) has condemned attacks against the chief of defence staff, General Christopher Musa, and the national security adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

It said the attacks were the handiwork of political adversaries of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group cautioned opposition parties against exploiting hardship and hunger for political gains.

The group, in a statement co-signed by Alhaji Tijani Usman (Katsina State), Dr Victor Bobai (Kaduna State), Adeosun Femi (Kwara State), Mrs Precious George (Benue State), Barrister Ibrahim Kolo (Niger State), Mal Aminu Suleiman Hadeja (Jigawa State) and Haruna Musa Goza (Borno State) claimed that these antagonistic forces were employing paid writers to “Concoct fake petitions directed at the nation’s military leadership, undermining the crucial role that the Armed Forces play in maintaining the unity and security of Nigeria”.

The group chided the political conflict entrepreneurs saying these attacks threaten not just the stability of President Tinubu’s administration but also the very fabric of the nation itself.

The group said, “Only cowards hide behind petitions and send tantrums. Serious individuals confront issues head-on.

The military has stood shoulder to shoulder with its personnel, exemplifying professionalism and decorum. These efforts—rooted in malice—should bring shame upon those who seek to discredit an institution that has sacrificed so much.”

They urged politicians to engage in legitimate and lawful practices rather than resorting to manipulative tactics. “True democracy flourishes through respect for differing opinions and adherence to fair electoral processes.”

The group commended the military’s unwavering commitment and sacrifices, particularly under the leadership of chief of defence staff General Christopher Musa.

They stressed that the military’s critical role in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty deserves respect rather than unwarranted derision.

“The military has made significant operational successes against terrorists and bandits, which speaks to their dedication and professionalism. Our troops require support, not scepticism. We must rally behind them in these challenging times.”

They reiterated that General Musa’s strategic leadership in blending kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to tackling Nigeria’s multifaceted security challenges has led to a marked decrease in criminal activities across troubled regions, providing a much-needed sense of security.

“General Musa is not just a military leader but a beacon of hope. Thanks to his leadership, our communities are experiencing a renewed sense of safety, and our roads are becoming increasingly secure.”

The group reiterated its unwavering support for President Tinubu, the military, and all institutions committed to fostering peace and stability in Nigeria. It called on citizens to unite against divisive tactics that exploit the nation’s resilience for personal gain.

“Together, we can build a stronger, united Nigeria that reflects the true aspirations of its citizens. Let us reject division and embrace solidarity for our nation’s future.”
