Led by the club’s president, Rotarian Odunayo Bello, the event featured free health consultations, deworming for 200 children, malaria testing and treatment, and the distribution of medicines for pregnant women and sickle cell patients.

Over 200 residents benefited from the initiative, which also included rice, foodstuffs, clothing, and exercise books for children.

“Our goal is to uplift and celebrate the community as the festive season approaches. These acts of service reflect Rotary’s mission to transform lives, and for Kabusa, this support makes a meaningful difference,” Bello said.

The club’s Community Service Director,Rotarian Odinukwe Somtochukwu Cynthia explained the inspiration behind the outreach.

“With Christmas around the corner, we wanted to create a free shopping experience for residents by providing fairly used clothes, foodstuffs, and other essentials,” she said.

Despite challenges in securing donations and navigating logistics to reach Kabusa, Cynthia emphasized the club’s dedication to its adopted community.

“We are here to make a difference and will continue supporting Kabusa in the years to come,” she added.

Residents expressed heartfelt gratitude for the initiative. Beneficiary Joy John shared, “I received items for my personal hygiene and care. I hope to get a general medical test to understand my health better.”

Another beneficiary, Mercy, appreciated the organizers’ thoughtful approach. “What touched me most was seeing them pray before distributing items. It’s rare to see people who genuinely care like this. May God bless them,” she said.

The Rotary Club of Abuja’s efforts underscore its commitment to service, offering hope and support to the Kabusa community during the festive season and beyond.
