The Delta State Government has assured that government at all levels, in collaboration with security agencies and Tantita Security services, will catch the perpetrators of the vandalisation of the NNPCL/Chevron Oil facility—the Dibi Abiteye Flow Station in Warri North local government area—and bring them to justice.
In a statement on Monday, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu said the state government should not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons/criminals out to sabotage the government’s resolve to sustain the current tempo of oil exploration in the state.
“The Government reassures Chevron Nigeria Limited and other oil-operating companies of our continuous support and commitment to their successful operations in Delta state.
We also solicit the support of host communities in identifying and clamping down on the offenders.
Similarly, the Chairman of Warri North local government council, Hon. Festus Ashima, has strongly condemned the recent vandalisation.
While saying that the destruction of critical infrastructure poses a significant threat to the environment and public safety and undermines the economic development of the community and state, the Chairman offered to give 5 million to anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“This dastardly act allegedly carried out under the guise of demanding employment, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“I want to assure the good people of Warri North Local Government Area that we will not succumb to the demands of these criminals. Instead.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to our youths to resist such destructive activities. We are committed to creating opportunities for employment and empowerment, and we will continue to work with reputable organisations to achieve this goal.
“I commend the security agencies for their prompt response to the incident and assure them of our continued support. Let us stand together against vandalism and all forms of criminality. We can build a safer, more prosperous, and peaceful community.
“Anyone with useful information will be given Five million Naira (5,000,000) Cash,” Ashima assured
