Kano State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Doguwa has charged the new Local Education Secretaries in the State to be dedicated and disciplined while discharging their official assignment.

Doguwa made the charge on Tuesday while addressing the Secretaries from the state’s 44 local government areas during a meeting held at the SBMC Conference Hall, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The Commissioner said that grass-roots managers of the education sector are critical in restructuring the state’s primary education.

Therefore, he employed them to work hard to complement the government’s effort to reshape primary and post-primary education in the state.

He says, “Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf has a keen interest in education. His administration has developed many programmes to strengthen our basic and post-basic education system.

“There is a need for you, therefore, to rally around the effort of His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and do the needful towards addressing problems bedevilling the sector”.

The commissioner further disclosed that the state has completed arrangements to implement new education programmes worth N10 billion, among which include the provision of soft loans to 1000 teachers, the distribution of over 700,000 school uniforms to primary pupils, the distribution of 1,500 computers and the distribution of 1.2 million Books to schools.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, commended the state governor for giving the board all the necessary support, which he said had brought new changes to the state’s primary education.
