With the legislators’ approval and subsequent increment, the approved capital budget for the 2025 fiscal year stands at N630.5 billion against the initial sum of #587.3 billion earlier presented by the State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

On the recurrent expenditure, the lawmakers approved the sum of N348.76 billion against the initial sum of N348.71 billion, representing an increased recurrent expenditure of N50 million.

The approval followed a recommendation raised at Tuesday’s Plenary by the House committee on finance and appropriation in a report presented by its Chairman and member representing Ika North-East state constituency, Hon Marylyn Okowa-Daramola.

Commending the lawmakers for the passage of the bill, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon Emomotimi Guwor, said the approved budget was in line with global best practice, adding that it was in the collective interest of the State.

In an interview with journalists, Marylyn Okowa-Daramola said that the budget increase, particularly the capital expenditure, was aimed at ensuring robust infrastructural development in the state.

She particularly cited the need to beef up road infrastructure and agricultural development in the state’s nooks and crannies.
