Kebbi State government is to host 2024 edition of the National Qur’an Recitation Competition, scheduled for the 19th to the 27th December.
This was disclosed by the chairman of the organising committee and the emir of Argungu, Samaila Muhammed Mera at a committee’s meeting held in his Palace in Argungu in Argungu local government area of Kebbi State.
The committee comprises of a high powered members of eminent Islamic Jurists, academicians and government technocrats, under the chairmanship of the emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera.
During the meeting, the emir reminded the members about the enormity of the task before them, calling for an absolute dedication towards ensuring success.
“I am thanking Governor Nasir Idris for appointing us to promote the Glorious Qur’an and Religious tenets,” Mera said.
“We have a big task in front of us, we are thankful to God for affording us the opportunity to advance the cause of this Islamic practice, bequeathed to Muslims by the Noble Prophet Muhammad, SAW,” he added.
He also told members that Kebbi would host people from different parts of the country and that they must, therefore, discharge their assignments with the fear of God.
He noted that they are under obligation to uphold the trust and confidence reposed in them by Governor Nasir Idris.
The emir is also confident that they will organise a befitting competition and has used this opportunity to invite all Muslims to come and witness this event, which starts on the 19th and ends on 27 December.
Other members of the committee include the Commissioners for Information and Culture; Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries; Basic and Secondary Education; Youths and Sports Development; Women Affairs; as well as the Environment.
The rest are; the rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Dr. Usman Sani Tunga, and the Chief Imam of Birnin Kebbi Central Mosque, Sheikh Mukhtar Walin Gwandu
