The governor called through his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, during the committee’s courtesy visit to the Kano State Government House.

In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Governor Yusuf she expressed concern over the dire security situation in the country, particularly in the northwest zone, where five out of seven states are grappling with widespread violence, including kidnappings and banditry.

He urged the committee to pay special attention to these challenges, which have disrupted farming activities and undermined the security of rural communities.

He acknowledged the significant police investments in Kano State, highlighting institutions such as the Police Academy in Wudil, the Police Secondary School in Shanono, and a newly established school in the Kabo local government area.

The governor commended the police for their role in maintaining peace and security. He noted that the Kano State Government recently donated over 70 vehicles to the State Police Command to enhance operational efficiency.

Earlier, the chairman of the House Committee on Police Affairs, Abubakar Miki Yalleman, stated that the visit was part of the committee’s oversight function to assess the Kano Police Command.

He praised Kano’s exemplary cooperation with security agencies, which has made the state a model of peace and visionary leadership in the northwest.

He also committed to strengthening the synergy between the committee and the state government for improved security outcomes.
