Private security experts, military and paramilitary eggheads, policymakers and industry stakeholders are set to converge on Lagos for a crucial discourse on security issues plaguing the nation as the managing director of EPSS Security Services Limited, Buduka Addey Johnson, unveils her first security book/ memoir.
The security veteran Buduka disclosed this in a press statement over the weekend, announcing the launch of her new book, “Guarding Dreams: My Life in Leadership and Security.”

Guarding Dreams, Buduka’s memoir encapsulates her 17-year experience in the private security business in Nigeria. It will be launched at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, by 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 19th, 2024.

“The memoir launch aims to provide a platform for stakeholders, regulators, industry leaders, and educators to explore diverse issues in the security sector, especially regulatory gaps,” Buduka said.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Rear Admiral Leye Jaiyeola (Rtd). Former Nigerian Presidential candidate and CEO of Ovation International Magazine Chief Dele Momodu will also attend. Dr. Raphael James, founder of the Centre for Research, Information Management and Media Development (CRIMMD), will deliver the book review.

Other eminent personalities expected to grace the occasion include the president of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Dr Chris Adigwu; the chairman of ASIS Chapter 206 Leadership, Mrs. Joko Olanitori; the leadership of the Ministry of Interior; and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) bosses.

The author, however, expressed optimism that the book launch and memoir will catalyse a movement toward standardising the private security industry, enhance its potential for job creation, ensure public safety, and, through partnerships and proceeds from the book, contribute to developing the nation’s educational system.
