Estate Surveyors’ Institution Charges Inductees On Skills, Innovation

Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has called on old and newly inducted members of its professional body to keep tab with current industry trends by seeking after full understanding of the emerging technical skills in the built environment value chain of the country.

President of the NIESV, ESV Victor Adekunle Alonge who made the call yesterday at the induction ceremony of about 681 new associates of the Institution in Abuja also revealed that by acquiring skills, members can be able to revolutionise the industry as well as attain professional excellence and ensure continuous relevance.

Alonge said the theme of this year’s induction lecture, “Developing Skills for Professional Excellence’ is appropriate due to the rapidly evolving world, most commonly called “the digital age” where he said amazing new technologies are changing the games and transforming lives, businesses and professional practices.

He also beckoned on the new Inductees to exhibit full loyalty to the Institution and invited them to join hands with the Council and the leadership to build a stronger and more formidable Professional association which he said will progressively impact the nation.

Chairman of the Occasion and Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru in his remarks reiterated that innovation and digital transformation are reshaping industries across the globe, and real estate is no exception.

He said technologies such as big data analytics as well as artificial intelligence and block-chain enables to make more accurate predictions, assess market trends with greater precision, and ensure transparency in property valuation and transactions. Adding that countries worldwide are already adopting digital frameworks in real estate which he said is ushering in an era of automated valuation models (AVMs) and online transaction platforms, which are transforming how properties are valued, bought, and sold.
