An Ibadan-born popular Islamic preacher, Sheik Muyideen Ajani Bello, has died at the age of 84.
The renowned preacher passed away in the early hours of Friday at his Akobo Estate in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Although the news of the passage was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, another Islamic cleric, Taofeek Akeugbagold, confirmed the passage on his Facebook page.

At his residence, family members joined by community members and other well -wishers were gathering to bid farewell to the departed soul.
Likewise, his son, Alh Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, popularly known as Aponle Anobi, confirmed the demise of the Islamic scholar in a social media post on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of the renowned scholar and preacher, Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the death of Sheikh Bello, who died at the age of 84 on Friday, as a great loss to the country, particularly the Muslim community.

In a statement issued on Friday by Mr Gboyega Akosile, his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the late Sheikh Bello left an indelible mark on the Muslim community and his followers across the world, and he would be sorely missed.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also condoled with the deceased’s family, Muslim faithful, friends and Muslim community across the country over the demise of the renowned Islamic cleric.

He said: “Sheikh Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello lived a fulfilled life. He dedicated his life to the service of the people and the propagation of Islam. His death is a great loss, but we are consoled by the good life that he lived and the legacy that he left behind.”

In the same vein, the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli expressed deep sadness over the passing of the renowned Islamic preacher, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello.

Alli described the late cleric as a towering figure whose teachings as well as lifestyle profoundly impacted countless lives in Nigeria and beyond.

The lawmaker lauded Sheikh Bello for his unwavering commitment to Islam and his dedication to preaching peace, unity, and the fear of Allah.

He said that the cleric’s sermons often inspired hope, strengthened faith, and promoted morality among Muslims as well as non-Muslims alike.
