Bauchi State Shari’a Commission has mapped out plans to sanitise Zakkat and Endowment operations in the state.

The chairman of the commission, Malam Hamisu Ya’u, disclosed this when he appeared before the state House of Assembly Committee on Religious Affairs for the 2025 budget defence.

Malam Ya’u noted that with the support of the state government, the commission has addressed some bottlenecks hindering the operation of Zakkat collection and disbursement.

He said, in the 2025 fiscal year, the commission will update all its operational procedures to stand the test of time.

According to him, the HISBAH unit of the commission is set to be an independent body after the passage of the bill which is currently before the house of assembly.

In his remarks after the budget defence, the executive secretary, Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr Ibrahim Gwallang, said all arrangements had been concluded for this year’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

He appreciated the support received by the state governor, Bala Mohammed.

Mr Ibrahim Gwallang assured that the state contingents would receive special treatment, urging them to be good ambassadors to the state and provisions have been made in the 2025 budget to reposition the operation of the board.
