Nigeria’s national tennis team will kick start their Davis Cup World Group II Playoffs campaign against South Africa next year, February 1-2, 2025.

It will be the South African squad’s first match after losing 3-1 to Lebanon in a playoff clash in Cairo in September.

The match will be hosted on the hard courts of the Groenkloof Tennis Stadium in Pretoria.
Nigeria, who are 25 places below South Africa team (53rd) in the Davis Cup rankings, qualified for the World Group II playoffs after emerging from a six-team Group III tournament in Abuja earlier this year.

The winning team in the World Group II playoff clash between South Africa and Nigeria will compete in a World Group II tie in September 2025, while the losing side will compete in a regional Group III event later next year.

“We look forward to hosting Nigeria for what is an important tie for both teams as they look to climb the international ladder,” said Tennis South Africa (TSA) President Gavin Crookes.

“We expect the SA team to put up a strong fight against the visitors and we urge local tennis fans to show the players support as they represent our country on home soil.”
