The national legal adviser of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Barr. Robert Terna Hon, has accused a faction of the party of misleading Nigerians by using a false party logo.

He stated this during an interview on Arise Television yesterday.

Hon explained that the logo displayed by the faction, which includes a basket of fruits inside a map, does not belong to any registered political party in Nigeria.

He also challenged viewers to verify the information by checking the INEC portal, where only 19 recognised political parties are listed, emphasising that the logo in question does not correspond to any of these parties, and the faction parading it is misleading the public.

“I was talking about the issue of logo that you display on the screen. There is no political party in Nigeria that bears that logo. There is no political party. I challenge you just google it.

“Press a button on your phone and you see it. So, the party they are talking about does not exist. The party they are talking about does not exist anywhere in Nigeria. They are misleading the people and I want to caution here. The press has everything at their disposal.”

He further urged the press, particularly Arise TV, to use their technical resources to expose the impostors and educate Nigerians to avoid being misled.

While addressing a recent court ruling involving the NNPP, he explained that it was a default judgment, one given without defense and that the faction’s actions had misled the court.

According to Hon, the ruling would eventually be overturned, as it was obtained fraudulently.
Responding to questions about the Kwankwasiyya group attempting to interfere with the leadership of NNPP’s members in the National Assembly, Hon clarified that the group does not represent the NNPP.

He stated that Kwankwasiya is a small faction within the party and has no right to write to INEC or the National Assembly leadership on behalf of NNPP.
“Kwankwasiya cannot write any correspondence for the NNPP. It is the NNPP National Working Committee, acting on the instructions of the National Executive Committee, that has the authority to handle such matters,”he said.

Hon also dismissed accusations that the Kwankwasiya group was attempting to cause disruptions in Kano State. He clarified that while he had heard about petitions, he was not privy to them and had not written any petitions himself.

About claims of Nigeria potentially sliding into a one-party state due to internal crises within opposition parties, Hon assured that NNPP remains stable. He refuted claims that the party was in crisis, saying that external members and factions were attempting to destabilise the party.

“There are no crises within NNPP,” Hon said confidently. “We are steadfast, and we cannot be shaken.”
