Ajang who represents Jos South/Jos East federal constituency announced his defection via a letter read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at the resumed plenary of the House of Representatives on Thursday.

LEADERSHIP reports that member the representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom federal constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Dalyop Chollom had earlier defected from the Labour Party to APC on Tuesday.

The latest defection brings the number of LP lawmakers that have dumped their party for APC within one week to six, as four members of the opposition party including Tochukwu Okere (Imo), Donatus Mathew (Kaduna), Bassey Akiba (Cross River), and Iyawe Esosa (Edo) earlier joined the ruling APC since last week Thursday.

In the letter of defection, Ajang cited the crisis in Labour Party and need for realignment with the national development agenda of the APC under the leadership of former President Muhammadu Buhari and now President Bola Tinubu as his reasons for joining the ruling party.

He further explained that the defection was informed by his admiration for the infrastructural and economic development strides of the APC-led federal government and the need to replicate same in his constituency.

He also attributed his defection to what he called limited influence of his former party in the governance structure.
