A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has picked holes in remarks of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on the recently concluded presidential election in Ghana.

Recall that Yakubu had after monitoring, attributed the success recorded in the Ghanaian general election to innovations and political stability of the country.

He had observed the consistency of political party structures and voter loyalty as key factors responsible for the electoral success in Ghana.

But, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt yesterday, Eze maintained that the INEC’s statement was self serving.

The APC chieftain said the majority of the elections conducted by the commission under Yakubu fell short of the minimum required standard for elections in a democracy.

Eze said Nigeria is in the present sad situation because of the way the 2023 general elections and other off-cycle elections were conducted, adding that Nigerians are losing hope in the entire electoral process.

He further raised concern about Nigeria’s political future becoming bleak as a result of the outcome of the last election.
