At  the inauguration of the council at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna yesterday, he said the members of the committee were selected based on their track records and the significant roles they were playing in society, especially as it affects Islam.

The  governor enjoined them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working to ensure that the terms of reference of the committee are realised.

The terms of reference include to use scholarship experience and wisdom in serving as a reliable Islamic religious advisory body for the governor in particular, and the Niger State government as a whole, on matters that are purely Islamic.

The committee is also to ensure compassion and good governance through mutual consultations, popular consent and collective deliberation for shared responsibility, personal freedom, justice, equality and dignity of the people of Niger State, among others.

The committee is headed by the chief Imam of Bida  and chairman, Niger State Imams Forum, Sheikh Alh. Adamu Yakatun while the director-general, Niger State Bureau of Religious Affairs, Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi, will serve as Secretary.
