Abia Wins $.4m In UNICEF PHC Programme

Abia State has won $.4m prize in a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) primary health care (PHC) programme tagged “Leadership Challenge.”

The governor, Alex Otti announced this during his monthly media briefing tagged “Governor Otti speaks to Abians,” for December in Umuahia, the capital.

His words: “Our dear state came second in the programme in the South East as it did last year. We’ re hoping that by next year we’ill make it to the first position.

He said his administration had done much in the health sector including the ongoing retrofitting of 200 primary healthcare centres across the state.

“This, we intend to do within 100 days while progress is made on the proposed medical village, details of which would be disclosed by the first quarter of next year.
