A team of operatives of the Anambra State police command are now on the trail of a lady whois accused of scamming a physically challenged 58-year-old woman of the sum of N2 million.
State command operatives intercepted the fraud through a trending video showing the yet-to-be-identified woman with the woman in a commercial bank’s Automated Teller Machine at Nnewi, Anambra State’s industrial—cum-commercial city.
In a statement he issued to reporters, the public relations officer of the state police command, superintendent of police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the woman in the trending video pretended to assist the physically challenged woman at the ATM but, instead, swapped the woman’s ATM card.
The state police image-maker said that the lady’s fraudulent act was later blown up a few minutes after she left the ATM spot when the woman started receiving debit alerts totalling N2 million.
He said that the state commissioner of police, CP Nnaghe Itam, immediately directed him to contact the victim for necessary information that would aid the command in tracking down the woman scammer.
Ikenga also said that CP Itam stated that all intelligent gathering tools of the command should be deployed to ensure that the suspect was arrested to face the full wrath of the law against her criminal act.
The PPRO further said that the state police command was calling on all residents of Nnewi and the environs to help the command identify the fraudulent lady to enable her arrest.
