USAID Establishes 39 Teacher Resource Centres In Adamawa

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has established 39 Teacher Resource Centres (TRCs) across 20 LGAs to further complement teacher professional development (TPD), in Adamawa State.

The chief of party, Strengthening Education in Northeast Nigeria States, SENSE, Mr Audu Liman,  made the disclosure in Yola during an interface with LEADERSHIP.

Liman, stated that the SENSE activities, has led to improved reading outcomes for 403,282 learners in primary grades 1, 2 and 3 in Adamawa and Gombe states.

He explained that the capacity of 335 school-based management committee (SBMC) has also been strengthened to ensure effective community level monitoring and advocacy.

SENSE programme was launched in March 2019, and funded by the  USAID’s education approach of utilising key evidence-based interventions to address some of the challenges facing the education sector in Nigeria.

The challenges targeted to be resolved by the programme include, the poor early grade teaching skills of lower primary teachers as well as lack of data driven teacher professional development strategy to improve teacher capacity.
