Nigeria’s minister of state for defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has charged newly inducted soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s 87 Regular Recruit Intake (87RRI) from Zamfara State to uphold the military’s core values and serve with honour and integrity.
Dr Matawalle, also the former governor of Zamfara State, gave the charge on Monday during a courtesy visit by the recruits to his residence in Gusau.
In his address, the minister commended the soldiers for their dedication and encouraged them to be exemplary in their service.
“I am proud of each of you and confident that you will serve as role models in your communities and beyond,” he said.
The recruits described themselves as beneficiaries of Dr Matawalle’s leadership and expressed gratitude for his support.
“We are here today not only as soldiers of the Nigerian Army but as beneficiaries of your esteemed office,” a representative said during the visit.
Dr Matawalle reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the military in its efforts to defend the nation and maintain peace.
