The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed claims that the convoy of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was attacked by armed robbers in the neighbouring Taraba State.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Moris Danwambo, on Thursday, described the social media report about an attack on the governor’s convoy as not only misleading but totally false.

CP Danwambo said the facts of the matter were that on December 19, the advance security vehicle in the convoy of the Adamawa State governor while returning from Taraba State encountered a roadblock mounted by robbers.

He noted that as part of its standard operational procedures for VIP’s movements, the advance vehicle was ahead of the convoy.

Upon reaching the scene, the roadblock had forced other commuters to discontinue their journey, with vehicles parked along the road.

The advance security team of the governor, comprising gallant officers, promptly responded by chasing the armed robbers away, cleared the road, and ensured the safe continuation of movement for all motorists.

On the strength of the gallant act, the Commissioner of Police commended the officers for being proactive and appealled to social media handlers to always verify their facts before making going public.

The Police Command equally thanked journalists both within and outside the State for their contributions and support, especially in the areas of sensitising and educating members of the public in peace-keeping.
