Northern Youth Association of Nigeria has encouraged the Nigerian military and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa to remain steadfast in service delivery to the country and its people, irrespective of any distraction from any quarter, including Amnesty International.

The association’s president, Godiya Adams Bogoro, made the statement available to the press in Bauchi yesterday, while reacting to a recent allegation against the Nigerian military by Amnesty International.

The association said, “We plead with the CDS to remain steadfast in the delivery of his committed services to Nigeria and the Nigerian people; no amount of distraction from Amnesty International or any mischief makers should deter him from carrying out his duties”.

Comrade Bogoro commended the CDS for his commitment to national security, human rights, and the welfare of military personnel, which he said was a testament to his dedication to the Nigerian people.

The group said, “These allegations are not only unfounded but also detrimental to the morale of our brave men and women in uniform who risk their lives daily to protect the nation”.

Bogoro, while condemning in strong terms the recent accusations made by Amnesty International against the Nigerian military, pledged the association’s support to the Nigerian military and its Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose drive, he said, is to see a better and more prosperous Nigeria.

“We urge Amnesty International to refrain from making unsubstantiated allegations that can undermine our military’s morale and our citizens’ confidence. Instead, we encourage them to engage in constructive dialogue and collaboration to promote human rights and national security”, the northern youths stated.

“The Nigerian military has made considerable gains in the fight against terrorism and insurgency, ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. The CDS has prioritized human rights, promoting a culture of respect and adherence to international humanitarian law within the military,” the youths said.
