The event in Ikeja equipped participants with crucial knowledge and skills to help them recognise and confront injustices in their various spheres of endeavour.

The program included free comprehensive training focused on understanding when and how rights can be violated, enabling attendees to identify various forms of human rights violation. The event also featured a free medical outreach by Dr Simi Health Care Limited and Precious Sight Foundation, among others.

Speaking at the event, the CEO of Injustice Is Real, Ngozi Molokwu, described the campaign as a massive step towards enlightening participants on identifying the diverse manifestations of injustice and how to stand up against it.

“We believe in empowered women, an empowered nation. Through this empowerment program, we will inspire the women to advocate for their rights, their health, and the rights of others,” she said.

She stated that Injustice is a Real advocate for Nigerians who experience human rights violations at home in Nigeria or the diaspora, saying, “Today we have an empowerment program for 100 women, which involves medical checks.

“We have collaborated with a few organisations. The Dr Simi Foundation is doing medical health checks. The Precious Sight Foundation does eyeglasses and eye checks. We have Yaba College of Technology on the ground, training young girls aged 18 to 24 on ICT. And then we have our in-house lawyer, the Injustice lawyer, covering human rights violations.”

Molokwu added that participants are enlightened on human rights violations and how to report human rights violations when their human rights are being violated.

She pointed out that the programme is annual, and this is our first maiden edition, saying that the vision is for us to run it twice a year.

Molokwu added, “We want to rotate the programme throughout the communities in Lagos. We are in Ikeja now, and our next plan is to have it in Ikorodu, Yaba, or on the island.”
