Speaker Abbas, Deputy Kalu Felicitate SGF Akume On 71st Birthday

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has extended warm felicitations to Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), on his 71st birthday on Friday, December 27.

Abbas, in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Musa Krishi, acknowledged the pivotal role played by SGF Akume in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker recalled Akume’s significant contributions and effective leadership during his time, serving as the governor of Benue State from 1999 to 2007, Senate Minority Leader from 2011 to 2015, and as the minister of special duties and inter-governmental Affairs from 2019 to 2023.

He said at 71, Akume stood as an exemplar of democratic values and a respected representative of the National Assembly in the Executive branch of government.

The Speaker commended the SGF for his innovative approach to his current role and the astute political expertise acquired through decades of service.

Speaker Abbas extended his best wishes to Senator Akume for continued health and success in the years ahead.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu felicitated SGF Akume on his 71st birthday, describing him as a “master weaver” who has intricately threaded his life’s tapestry with service, dedication, and wisdom.

“Seventy-one orbits of the sun, and Senator George Akume’s star continues to shine bright,” Kalu noted in a statement by his chief press secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu.

The deputy speaker acknowledged Akume’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s development, highlighting his distinguished tenures as senator, governor of Benue State, and minister.

He commended Akume’s unwavering commitment to the nation’s progress, saying that his wealth of experience in performing his duties has made him a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s politics.

Kalu expressed his heartfelt wishes for Senator Akume’s continued vitality, wisdom, and fulfilment in serving the nation.

He prayed that Senator Akume’s legacy would forever inspire generations to come.
