National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Iyorchia Ayu is expected to return from his European trip on Tuesday morning ahead of the inauguration of the presidential campaign council on Wednesday.
Ayu had traveled for a two week trip shortly after the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party passed a confidence vote on him.
The party will on September 28 inaugurate go ahead to it’s campaign council despite the withdrawal of some party chieftains from the council.
Recall that Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, his Oyo State counterpart Seyi Makinde and the some other party chieftains had withdrawn their membership of the campaign council.
They had insisted on Ayu’s resignation to give way for a chairman of Southern extraction to, according to them, ensure the presidential candidate and the party chairman do not come from same geo-political zone.
LEADERSHIP Sunday however gathered that the Ayu who had formally handed over the leadership to his deputy national chairman North, Amb. Iliya Damagun, will return in the early hours of Tuesday to preside over the inauguration of the campaign council.
