Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has extended his condolences to Secretary to the Sokoto State Government (SSG), Alhaji Mohammed Bello Sifawa, following the tragic death of his daughter and three grandchildren in a fire incident. The blaze also claimed the life of the daughter’s domestic aide.

After the funeral, Gov. Aliyu expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the SSG for the tragic loss of his daughter, Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, her three children—Fatimatu, Maryam, and Abubakar—and their house help, Aishatu Muhammad.”

He emphasized the profound grief felt by the Sokoto State government, affirming solidarity with the SSG and his family during this difficult time.

Gov. Aliyu offered prayers for the deceased and their loved ones, wishing them eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus. He assured the SSG of the government’s support as they navigate this challenging period, invoking Allah’s mercy to comfort all who mourn.

However, he added that he would not be silenced from speaking truthfully as the nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices.

In his post, Obi said, “Have I crossed the line? I ask the question because my New Year message has now led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me. While I have received all sorts of messages, one Mr Felix Morka has accused me of “crossing the line” and warned me that I would face the consequences.

“I find it necessary to share this message again and urge everyone who has not seen it to watch: “If I have genuinely crossed the line, I invite anyone to point it out, as I remain committed to upholding decorum. However, I will not be silenced in my resolve to speak truthfully, especially as our nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices.

“We are increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed. May God help us create a better and freer society for the sake of our children,” he said.
