APC, PDP Trade Words Over Adeleke’s Endorsement For Second Term

Prominent people in the society, including traditional rulers, political leaders, and religious leaders, among others, have continued to endorse the candidature of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State for a second term in office.

Prominent among them are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, former Osun governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Osun labour Unions, Egbedore/Ede traditional rulers, and Market Women.

Reacting to the endorsement, the Osun chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned Adeleke that no amount of endorsements would prevent him from being voted out of office by the people of the state who have seen the need for his imminent replacement by way of the 2026 governorship election.

The party, through its director, Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, observed that Adeleke and his co-travellers are basking in the euphoria of public acceptability, warning that there is no special reason under the sun for him to roll out the drums over the endorsements because such endorsements did not confer any unique advantage on any holder of a public office in the past.

APC said that based on the brazen infractions that have become the hallmark of Adeleke’s administration, he knows in his inner mind that he does not, in any way, merit the extension of his tenure beyond 2026. The governor has not added any acceptable value to the state’s status.

In a swift reaction, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed the APC’s hostile posture regarding Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent overwhelming endorsements for re-election as the last kick of a dying horse, noting that the main opposition is fighting a lost battle.

The party, through its chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, noted that contrary to the erroneous postulation of the Osun APC, Governor Adeleke earned the endorsements for another term in office on the merit of the remarkable work he has done in his first two years.
