Nigerian actor and comedian Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has publicly criticised Toke Benson, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, for allegedly assaulting a man who attempted to record a video of her.
The incident went viral after being shared by Sahara Reporters.
In the footage, the commissioner is seen confronting the individual for filming her, with reports suggesting she even threatened to break his phone.
In a series of tweets, Mr Macaroni condemned the commissioner’s actions, highlighting the inappropriate conduct of public servants in the country.
He wrote:
“Dear Mrs Toke Benson, who do you think you are that you can’t be recorded?? Ok. Commissioner? And so what??
“You even have the temerity to ask “who is paying your salary” Is it your money? A public servant moving like a dictator.
Saying you will break a citizen’s phone and actually moving to do so?? Outrageous!!!
And I heard another lady asking “do you know who you are talking to”
Who are you? Who is she? Who are all of you gangan??? My goodness!!!
It seems once you hold a political office in Nigeria you become Lord and Master and all Citizens must become your slaves??
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians expressing their concern over the treatment of citizens by those in positions of power.
