Our Party Not Rehabilitation Camp For Failed Politicians – Delta APC

Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to speculation surrounding Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s rumoured defection to the party.

It said APC is “not a rehabilitation camp for failed politicians” and that it is uninterested in political opportunism or party affiliations driven by personal gains.

In a statement by its state publicity secretary, Barr. Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC described Governor Oborevwori’s tenure as being marred by underperformance, widespread disappointments and the inability to deliver meaningful development to the people of the state.

The statement emphasised that while the APC respects the right of individuals to associate with a political party of their choice, the party is not concerned about the governor’s possible defection, given his alleged lack of tangible achievements since assuming office.

While acknowledging the governor’s occasional praise of President Bola Tinubu’s developmental strides, the APC accused Governor Oborevwori of squandering Delta State’s resources despite receiving over ₦50 billion in federal allocations monthly.

“Deltans are disillusioned by the glaring failures of this administration and we remain steadfast in our mission to bring sustainable development through visionary leadership,” the party scribe stated.

But the commissioner for Information, Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, reacted that when an institution that is expected to conduct itself on the basis of informed facts begins to act and react on the basis of speculations or rumour, “we must see that something must have gone wrong with its core values.”

He said acting through Onojeghuo, since Onojeghuo himself clearly termed the defection as “speculations” that Governor Oborevwori is seeking to defect to the APC, then Delta APC is suffering from incontinence and cannot help itself.

“The Delta APC is living in a crippling fear of him, so we can understand why they have become sleepless and incontinent. They are only hoping to survive through unintelligent propaganda as they are currently engaged in. Pitifully for them, “e no go work,” Osuoza said.
