Governor Biodun Oyebanji had in September 2024 initiated the policy and approved it to cushion the effects of economic hardship and fuel subsidy removal on the state workforce.

The officers on level 01- 07 under the new arrangement, had since been working from home three days a week.

Also, officers on level 08-12 were working from home two days in a week, while officers on level 13-17 work from home once in a week.

The arrangement, which commenced on Monday, September 9, 2024, however, excludes essential workers like teachers, core health workers in the hospitals and security personnel among others.

A letter from the office of Establishment and Service Matters to all accounting officers, said the cancellation followed implementation of the new minimum wage for all workers.

“It also in view of the government investments in the welfare of workers and the promising contributions to the nation’s economy,” the letter signed by the Permanent Secretary in the office, Mrs Funke Ajibola said.

It directed the affected workers to fully return to work from Monday, four months after the commencement of the policy by the state government.
