The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) has thrown its weight behind Ghana’s bold move to adopt a 24-hour economic model.

The group described the economic policy  as a groundbreaking step that could reshape Ghana’s economy and serve as a model for other African countries.

PeacePro gave the endorsement in a statement signed by its  executive director, Abdulrazaq Hamzat.

It commended President John Mahama’s  administration for its visionary leadership and proactive economic reforms.

It noted that Ghana’s transition to a 24-hour economy could boost job creation, enhance productivity, and strengthen urban security by extending business operations across multiple sectors.

“Adopting a 24-hour economy will position Ghana as a leading example in fostering economic resilience and regional competitiveness,” it said.

The group, however, urged the government to prioritise investments in stable electricity supply, with focus on renewable energy to power continuous operations.

It also called for comprehensive labour policies that protect night-shift workers, ensuring fair wages, health coverage, security and workplace safety.
