Residents of the Subari community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) have likened the newly constructed Saburi Access road to a bride, expressing their gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for delivering such  valuable gift to the community.

The Chief of Saburi, Alhaji Muhammed Yamawo, made this known on behalf of the residents during a recent visit to the community, which aimed at assessing the impact of the completed 5-kilometer road.

The Dagachin Saburi conveyed his appreciation for the government’s efforts, specifically thanking President Bola Tinubu, Minister Wike, and the chairman, Christopher Maikalangu for the community development.

Yamawo praised the government for not only fulfilling its promise of constructing the road but also for providing a new Primary Health Care facility and a Police Division in Saburi.

Also, Akin Akinwande, who operates a car wash in the area, voiced his gratitude, attributing a boost in business to the newly opened road.

“Since this road was completed, business has improved tremendously. It is a standard road, unlike the last one that deteriorated within weeks,” he said.

Akinwande noted that traffic has increased significantly, with more than 100 vehicles passing by in short periods, in stark contrast to the previous traffic of around 20 cars.

“This access road has brought many customers into my car wash business. Before this, it was slow, but now it is thriving because of the new road,” he said.

However, he cautioned that a drainage diversion near Emperor Garden poses a potential future challenge and urged the minister to address it promptly.

A local furniture workshop owner expressed his gratitude, while reflecting on the previously dire condition of the road, which had caused multiple accidents, particularly during the rainy season, and increased his cleaning workload due to dust.

“The dust would cause health issues, but that’s all changed now, and business has improved significantly,” he said.

Justina Ochoche, who sells akara (bean cake) in the area, shared her joy over the completed road, stating, “There used to be mud everywhere, causing our children to fall while walking.

The government has remembered us; now there is no more dust or mud even when it rains.”

Truck driver Emeka Oduma, a resident of Saburi, echoed the community’s sentiments, celebrating the road’s completion while noting the need for reduced taxation and more development.

“We hope future leaders will follow in Wike’s footsteps as he has provided us with this essential road network,” he said.

Another resident of the community, Emmanuel Ogboh, who runs 234 Stores, highlighted how the improved road conditions have enhanced business flow, bringing customers from other regions of Abuja.

He suggested the construction of speed bumps to curb reckless driving on the smooth road, which could lead to accidents.
