Police Arrest 2 For Alleged Sodomy In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in sodomy and criminal intimidation of minors.

A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil on Tuesday accused the first suspect, a 41-year-old Aminu Musa from Sabon Garin Narabi of having unnatural sexual activity with an 11-year-old boy, Hassan.

The suspect allegedly lured the boy into his room, located adjacent to a shop where he worked as a shopkeeper and had canal knowledge with him on several occasions.

According to Wakil, after receiving the complaint on December 30, 2024, police officers from Tilden Fulani Divisional Police Headquarters were dispatched to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The police spokesman added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and revealed how he manipulated the victim.

According to the suspect, he frequently brought food to the boy and, on several occasions, gave him money in amounts of N300, N200, and N100, respectively.

He added that he used these opportunities to exploit him, believing he was “reaping the benefits” of his actions.

In a related case, on December 31, 2024, a complaint was lodged at ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters, GRA Bauchi, that on December 28, 2024, one Adamu Abdullahi, a 38-year-old businessman dealing in metal scrap, also known as “Baban Bola,” accosted a 10-year-old child, one Garba (name withheld for privacy), while he was hawking.

“The suspect intimidated the victim, directed him to enter an uncompleted building, and forcefully had canal knowledge of him.

“Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Division were dispatched to the scene and immediately arrested the suspect, who confessed to the crime freely during interrogation,” Wakil said.

Wakil also revealed that one Abubakar Yakubu and Almustapha Hassan were arrested on January 8, 2025, following intelligence received by the Command indicating they were in possession of locally-made firearms.

He said upon receiving the report, the operatives, in collaboration with the Peace and Security Committee, swiftly located the suspects’ residence, apprehended them and conducted an immediate search during which two fabricated pistols were found hidden in the ceiling.

The statement further said the suspects confessed during interrogation to have purchased the firearms from an anonymous source in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi. “They further admitted to frequently conspiring to carry out multiple robbery operations.”

The PPRO added that the suspects revealed that their primary areas of operation were the Gwallaga and Behind NIDB areas of Bauchi while during their robberies, they steal motorcycles and household items, such as pots which they sell to available buyers at Muda-Lawal Market.

“After stealing pots, they destroy and package them in kilograms for sale. Additionally, when they robbed motorcycles, they dismantled them into parts and sold them to various buyers, also known as “Yan Bola Jari”.

The suspects were also found in possession of motorcycles, which they claimed to have bought with proceeds from their robberies.

The exhibits recovered from the suspects include two fabricated pistols; two motorcycles; one machete; two ATM cards and one ring.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Auwal Mohammed urged the people of Bauchi to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
