The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has urged the National Assembly to allocate adequate funding for the Ministry of Livestock Development in order to combat insecurity.
A statement by the national president of the association, Hon Khalil Mohammed Bello, said the new ministry with significant potential, established by President Bola Tinubu, could help resolve the ongoing conflicts between herders and farmers.
According to the statement, the new ministry would enhance food security and economic productivity, creating millions of jobs and attracting investment in the livestock sector.
Bello explained that the establishment of the ministry provides a vital opportunity for their members to become direct beneficiaries of national resources.
He said the president has demonstrated a strong commitment to the livestock sector through the establishment of the ministry and the appointment of qualified personnel.
He added that, “It is imperative that the National Assembly recognises the importance of this ministry in the upcoming budget discussions. The ministry currently lacks essential infrastructure necessary for its effective operations. Therefore, we urge members of the National Assembly to provide special consideration and favourable budget allocations to ensure the ministry’s success.
