Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of the FCT that his administration is committed to fulfilling its promises, distancing himself from the typical political rhetoric that often goes unfulfilled.

Speaking at commissioning the newly constructed 5km Naharati Ukya Access Road and two river bridges in Abaji, Wike emphasised the importance of accountability in governance.

The minister, who said that the road completion is part of ongoing efforts to address infrastructure needs in the area, also promised that two Police stations would be provided in the council to boost the security situation.

“Don’t take us as the usual politicians. Our job is to make promises and fulfil them to the people. In our last meeting, we promised that we would need more police divisions to enhance security in our country.

By the grace of God, we shall provide two more police divisions here,” he said.
While speaking on the just completed Naharati Ukya Access Road, the minister said, “I promised this project would be ready for commissioning in December. I want to thank the company that completed this project in November. ”

He said the construction had begun a year prior, showing how effectively the administration operates. “Today, we are commissioning in January 2025. We flagged it up in January 2024.”

Wike also expressed his gratitude to the residents of Abaji for their support during the project’s development.

“If you had not supported the company, we would not have reached this project on time.

“We are also going to provide infrastructure at Dabuja University. As we speak, construction is ongoing at that university,” he said.

He further promised additional projects in the coming months, affirming that the government is not solely focused on urban areas but is equally invested in developing satellite towns.

Wike reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability, urging residents to trust that the current administration would honour its promises.

“Be assured my government will continue to support you,” he said. “This year’s budget for 2025 will ensure you have further improvements to your environment,” he said.
