The Queen Consort of Warri Kingdom, Olori Atuwatse III, has said that her nomination as the Social Impact Person of the Year 2024 by the LEADERSHIP Group will spur her to do more for humanity.

She also said she would be receiving the award on behalf of the Itsekiri people and Warri Kingdom.

Olori Atuwatse III stated this in Warri, Delta State, at the formal presentation of her nomination letter as the Social Impact Person of the Year 2024 when she received the management team from LEADERSHIP Group led by the vice chairman, Mr Michael Okpere.

The UK-trained lawyer and entrepreneur said the recognition is a call to do more, foster social responsibility, and show compassion, especially to the voiceless in society, noting that if she had not impacted the people, she wouldn’t have been so honoured by LEADERSHIP.

She said, “I want to welcome you to Warri Kingdom and thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to honour me. I am short of words. Nominating me as the Social Impact Person of the Year as one of the top awards to be celebrated means a lot to me.

“When I discovered that my husband was going to be the king, I felt the Lord say to me to do more for the people, and that has spurred me to do what I do. I think a platform or position is a call to responsibility and to reach where others cannot reach. It is not a place to take for yourself, but it is a place to pay attention to and amplify voices, especially when representing people.

“It is essential we carry their voices and concerns into those rooms. So, I am taking the award on behalf of my people because if I don’t have them to impact, there won’t be the Social Impact Person of the Year Award for me. I look forward to the award, and we enjoy a very good relationship with LEADERSHIP. I also look forward to moving forward more,” she stated.

The vice chairman of LEADERSHIP Group, Michael Okpere, before presenting to her the nomination letter, said the awardees were carefully chosen by a team of 54 persons who conducted a thorough research before nominating the awardees, noting that the Social Impact

Award category is among the three categories to be highly celebrated.

“Some of our recipients, alongside your esteemed self, include Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Governor of Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno; Governor of Kano State; Abba Yusuf, Governor of Jigawa State; Umar Namadi; Governor of Enugu State; Peter Mbah; and the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, among other notable recipients.

In his remarks, the director of LEADERSHIP Group, Abraham Ndah-Isaiah, commended the Queen Consort for impacting the lives of the people through her Iwere Royal Foundation, which champions women empowerment through education and community service.
