Police Kill 3 Robbers, Arrest 1, Recover Local Pistol In Yobe

The Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command, has reported the fatal shooting of three suspected armed robbers and the arrest of another one during an exchange of gunfire in Ngalda town of Fika local government area of Yobe State.

The development was confirmed in a press statement released by the command’s spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, and made available to the press in Damaturu.

He said on January 20, 2025, at approximately 2100hrs, a group of six armed robbers, led by Datti Alhaji Dadji of Ngalda Town, attacked three shops at Ngalda Market.

The incident resulted in seven fatalities and 11 injuries. The robbers made off with approximately N16.5 million.

According to the statement, in response, the people of Ngalda Town mobilised and killed three of the robbers, while three others escaped with injuries.

The statement said that the divisional police officer (DPO) led a team of patrol officers to Alhaji Dadji’s house, where they recovered a locally made pistol with three cartridges.

He said Alhaji Dadji was arrested and is currently in police custody, facing interrogation as the investigation continues.

The police commissioner, CP Garba Ahmed, has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

 

He tasked personnel to arrest fleeing syndicate members and urged the public to assist the command with credible information.

 

The command commiserated with the victims’ families and assured them that the criminals would face the full wrath of the law.

 

LEADERSHIP reports that the victims and corpses were evacuated to the General Hospital Fika for medical treatment and autopsy.
