Investments In Road Construction,Urban Renewal, Transportation Have Set Kwara On Sustainable Devt – Olododo
The Kwara State government has restated its commitment to delivering infrastructural development to the nooks and crannies of the state.
The commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, gave the assurance during the ministerial press briefing organised by the Ministry of Communications.
Olododo disclosed that 38 major projects were completed, while 46 are currently in progress during the fourth quarter of 2024.
Additionally, he highlighted the ongoing construction of 209.77 kilometers of rural roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
Olododo hailed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s exceptional leadership style, describing his relentless commitment to infrastructure and urban renewal projects as transformative.
He noted that the governor’s vision is not only about building physical structures but also about creating opportunities, boosting economic activities, and improving the quality of life of every Kwaran.
“Governor AbdulRazaq’s investment in road construction, urban renewal, and transportation has set Kwara on a trajectory of sustainable development. His administration’s approach has brought a new lease of life to communities across the state, bridging gaps in infrastructure and opening up rural areas to economic opportunities,” Olododo said.
On the state government’s commitment to the compressed natural gas (CNG), olódodo said: “In line with the administration’s commitment to cleaner energy, the state government has keyed into the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNG-I), resulting in the delivery of 20 18-seater shuttle buses and 20 tricycles to bolster the public transport system at affordable rates for residents.”
He added that other ongoing partnerships on CNG would further enhance the state’s transition to cleaner energy while creating jobs for residents.
“Governor AbdulRazaq’s projects are not just physical structures; they are monuments of hope and symbols of a better tomorrow for all Kwarans,” he said.

SOCIAL INVESTMENTS:
The Kwara State government has restated its commitment to the social investment sector, by providing financial supports and empowerment to youths, small and medium scale businesses, the vulnerable and rural dwellers in the state.
The general manager of Kwara State Social Investment Programmes (KWASSIP), Dr Olayinka Tejidini stated this during an inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin.
Tejidini described Year 2024 as “a year where significant number of cash grants and disbursements were made from the state government to
the beneficiaries of different categories, ranging from compensation of business owners affected by the road setback enforcement in Ilorin metropolis, financial support to Kwara indigenes affected by the inferno at Dosumu market, Lagos State, down to social protection support programme where cash was disbursed to women who are into petty trading (Owo ishowo) as well as vulnerable youths in the state.”
He also spoke about the the ongoing “Kwaraprenuer” which is expected to issue out financial support to different individuals and businesses, who have pitched their business ideas and have been considered fit for the cash grants.
“Beneficiaries are drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state, without bias. Kwarans of various ideologies and political affiliations have benefited from this scheme, which is devoid of nepotism.
This scheme which is a brainchild of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the executive governor of Kwara State, was put in place majorly to provide Kwarans with leveled playing ground, aimed at lifting vulnerable households and individuals out of poverty. It is significant to note here that, so far in Nigeria, KWASSIP is one of the largest safety net by any state government in Nigeria, ” Tejidini said.
He sued for the support of Kwarans for the policies and programmes of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration, adding that,” at this juncture, I therefore urge you all to cooperate with KWASSIP to enable it achieve its set goals and potentials . ”
Kwara Govt Has Registered 5 SPVs – Abolore
SOLID MINERAL DEVELOPMENT:
The Kwara State government has fulfilled the registration requirements of five Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) that will aid seamless investment opportunities in mining sector in the state.
The commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Afees Abolore, during an inter- ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, said the licenses for the five SPVs on mining operations in the state would be issued “on or before the end of the first quarter of the year, all things being equal. ”
He said the SPVs when become operational would enhance seamless investment opportunities in mining operations and also increase internally generated revenue potentials of the state.
He said effort towards the reduction of illegal mining in the state to a barest minimum was in top gear.
Abolore said the state government would continue to partner with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and other relevant stakeholders in boosting mining practices and other solid minerals related activities in the state.
He noted that Kwara has been identified as one of the leading solid mineral producing states in the country, assuring that the ministry under his watch would utilise the full potentials of the huge mineral resources to the benefit of the state.
We’re On Improved Scorecard in Justice Sector – AG
JUSTICE SECTOR:
The Kwara State government has been commended for the paradigm shift in the administration of justice, earnest adjudication of cases and fairness in legal proceedings, thereby positioning the state better on the improved score cards in justice sector.
The attorney general and commissioner for Justice, Senior Sulyman gave the commendation at an inter- ministerial press briefing organised by the state Ministry of Communications.
Sulyman who was represented by director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Kabir Salahu, reiterated government’s resolve to reposition and enhance the judiciary sector in the state, with an assurance that prosecution and defense of court cases of the state government are undertaken in due course.
The attorney general added:” “The Ministry as a cornerstone of legal administration in the state has continued to fulfil its requisite and supervisory role, to all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), emphasizing the committed stride of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in addressing some bureaucratic bottlenecks, in handling court cases for government, ministry and extra-ministerial departments, drafting and vetting of legal instruments, prosecution of criminal cases, legal advisory role played to ministries and extra-ministerial departments as well as administration of official oaths in the state, thereby making government businesses easier and seamless.”
“There were appreciable levels of cases been concluded in the last quarter of year 2024 under review, in civil litigation; 10 ongoing criminal cases; 37 ongoing, public prosecution; the department of legal drafting has 39 number of agreements vetted, two number of law bills making a total number of 41 for legal drafting alone.”
On revenue cases, the attorney general explained that, “the department of Revenue Service of Justice Ministry has two high court cases, four revenue court cases with a total number of six cases received, six ongoing and 21 concluded.
“Furthermore, the department of public defender has 86 ongoing cases, 37 concluded cases, while the Citizens Mediation Centre has 35 complaints ongoing and 29 concluded complaints,” he said.
Sulyman disclosed that during the period under review, the ministry generated a total revenue of N161,256,529,19 for government.
He praised the state government for providing the ministry with a conducive and enabling environment to perform its duties.
