Senator Diket Plang (APC-Plateau) has praised the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying the minister was placing the FCT among the best federal capitals globally.

Plang, who chairs the senate committee on employment, labour and productivity, said the minister’s steadfast dedication to project implementation across various sectors within the FCT reflected his efficiency and exemplary leadership.

The lawmaker stated, “The minister is walking the talk by ensuring the timely execution of projects within the federal capital, which is highly commendable.”

According to Plang, who represents Plateau Central Senatorial District, Wike is delivering on his promise to transform the FCT into one of the world’s premier capitals.

He noted that these initiatives have greatly alleviated the concerns of FCT residents who have long complained of marginalisation, and that they are also generating job opportunities for the numerous youth in the area.

The senator added that the minister has demonstrated that government is a continuum by completing long-abandoned projects throughout the federal capital.

He explained that the various projects, which encompass road infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare, among others, have revitalised the federal capital.

Plang highlighted several notable projects, including the comprehensive development of approximately 6.7 kilometres of a 10-lane Outer Southern Expressway from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 Junction.

Additionally, he mentioned the construction of the Southern Parkway from the Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, named after President Bola Tinubu, as well as the B6 (Constitution Avenue)/B12 (Independence Avenue) roads in the Central Area and the Wuye interchange bridge.

Plang, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, noted that the completion of engineering infrastructure in Guzape District Lot II and the resurfacing of 189 roads covering 57 kilometres within the city centre is a significant milestone.

He emphasised that the rehabilitation of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project, public primary and secondary schools within the FCT, and the refurbishment of Cottage Hospital Gwagwalada, District Hospital Gwarimpa, and District Hospital Utako, among others, exemplifies Wike’s commitment to comprehensive development.

The lawmaker, who described Wike as a “workaholic minister,” asserted that his dedication to duty is a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s determination to enlist the best talents in delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stated that history will remember Wike as one of the FCT’s best ministers.
