The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Engineer Sunday Makinde, the older brother of Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde.
Engineer Sunday Makinde passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 65.
In a statement issued on behalf of the 36 state governors, NGF Chairman and Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, conveyed heartfelt condolences to Governor Makinde, the Makinde family, and the people of Oyo State.
“Engineer Sunday Makinde’s exemplary life of service and dedication will forever remain an inspiration to all who associated with him,” the statement read.
The NGF assured Governor Makinde of its unwavering solidarity during this time of mourning and offered prayers for the repose of his brother’s soul.
The Forum also extended prayers for comfort and strength to the Makinde family and all those grieving the loss of Engineer Sunday Makinde.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to serve as a beacon of love and unity,” the statement added.
