2027: Ebonyi Group Urges Voters To Assess Candidates On Performance

The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in the Diaspora (AEISCID) has urged residents of Ebonyi State to carefully assess the performance of elected officials and political aspirants ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group made the call following remarks allegedly made by the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Nwali, who reportedly dismissed criticisms of the state government raised by the association.

In a statement issued and signed by its President, Paschal Oluchukwu, AEISCID urged voters to make informed decisions by evaluating the records of those seeking public office rather than relying on political rhetoric.

The association said residents should focus on key issues such as governance, infrastructure, public service delivery and the overall impact of government policies on their daily lives.

“Voters should pay close attention to governance, infrastructure development, public service delivery and the overall impact of government policies on the lives of citizens ahead of the next governorship election,” the statement said.

It stressed that accountability and performance should remain the major yardsticks for assessing both current office holders and those seeking elective positions.

The group also urged government officials to concentrate on addressing the concerns of citizens and delivering measurable results across critical sectors instead of responding to criticism.

According to AEISCID, active public engagement and open debate are vital to strengthening democracy and ensuring that leaders remain accountable to the people.

“Robust public debate and civic participation are essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring that elected leaders remain responsive to the needs of the people,” the association stated.

Reaffirming its position, the group called on Ebonyi residents to remain vigilant and make issues of development, economic growth, good governance and service delivery the central focus of political discussions ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“We rightly reiterate our earlier position that the masses should evaluate the records of those seeking elective positions and make informed choices in the interest of Ebonyi State,” the statement added.
