Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to enhancing Nigeria through effective and inclusive governance.

Wike made this known during the commissioning of the new access road to Saburi I and II communities. The route connects Murtala Mohammed Expressway to Old Keffi Road, near the Dei-Dei International Market in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

The minister acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerians before Tinubu’s administration and said, “It is going to be a challenging journey.”
However, he expressed confidence that Tinubu would successfully navigate the nation’s challenges with the support of all citizens.
“I urge everyone to be patient. Conditions will improve. President Tinubu is committed to making Nigeria a better country,” he assured.

Wike said that constructing the access road to Saburi is part of Tinubu’s initiative to positively impact the lives of residents in satellite towns and rural communities.

He promised that every area council within the FCT would receive at least one project in the 2025 budget.
The minister further announced that construction on the Dei Dei Market Road to Life Camp would begin within a month and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

He also pledged to construct the Zaudna – Kaba – Kagini Road, at the request of council chairman Christopher Maikalangu, to facilitate better connectivity for surrounding communities.

Wike thereby instructed Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, the coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, to add this project to the 2025 FCT budget.

Earlier, Zulkiflu reported that the Saburi I and II access road project was awarded in January 2024 and completed within a year.

He noted that this road, which connects from the Murtala Mohammed Expressway to Old Keffi Road, has brought renewed hope to local residents and is already improving their standard of living.

The AMAC chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, expressed gratitude to Wike for his positive contributions, noting that people in Zaudna, Kaba, and Kagini had long been without proper access to roads, with past attempts at construction having been abandoned for decades.

He explained the challenges faced due to the need for two bridges, which made the project capital-intensive and led to a loss of hope among residents.

In his appeal, Maikalangu requested that Wike consider building additional roads, including the Karshi to Kutasa Road.

He praised the minister for his impactful initiatives, stating that the residents of AMAC have affectionately named him “Wike Abowoweyi,” meaning “Wike, the Magician of our time,” in recognition of his transformative influence on the lives of FCT citizens.
