These projects, executed under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration, were carried out in partnership with the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programmes (ADAS-P).

During an assessment tour by a delegation from the state government, stakeholders praised the quality and impact of the interventions across the 12 upgraded livestock and grains markets.

At Toungo Grains Market, Khalid Muhammad (Sarkin Kasuwa) and Alhaji Baba Alhaji Usman Nanu from Ganye Livestock Market commended the governor for constructing standard drainage systems, sand-filling the markets and providing water, fences, and other essential structures.

Similarly, in Ngurore, Yola South local government area, Malam Babangida Baba Kano (Sarkin Tike) lauded the government and ADAS-P for their efforts, reaffirming their support for the administration and pledging to maintain the structures.

Speaking on behalf of the livestock and aquaculture development commissioner, Dr Markus Peter Danbaki, the director of planning, research, and statistics, commended the contractors for their outstanding work.

He urged market users to align with government policies by generating revenue to sustain further market upgrades.

ADAS-P Board Chairman Alhaji Kashim Njidda highlighted the projects’ transformative nature, describing some markets as “unusable” prior to the intervention. He called on stakeholders to ensure the markets’ security and maintenance.

The chairman of the ADAS-P Implementation Committee, Dr Garba Ahmed, emphasised the importance of prioritising projects based on stakeholder engagement.

He announced plans to establish market management committees to oversee maintenance and revenue generation.

The projects included constructing standard drainage systems, sand-filling, provision of water, fencing, security offices, veterinary clinics, and loading bays at the selected markets.

The delegation aimed to inspect the erosion control projects and evaluate other market improvements, reaffirming the government’s commitment to enhancing the state’s agribusiness infrastructure.
