The Okun Journalists Forum (OJF) has commended Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for his efforts in human and infrastructural development.

The forum consists of practising journalists of Okun extraction of Kogi State and based in Kaduna. It gave the commendation barely one year after the governor assumed office on 27 January 2024, after the forum chairman, Chief Olu Ajayi of Vanguard Newspaper, visited the state capital and other parts of the state.
Chief Ajayi stated this during the forum’s monthly Congress held in Kaduna, adding that “Upon assuming office on 27 January 2024, the state has witnessed significant changes and progress under the present administration led by Gov Usman Ododo.”

According to him, Governor Ododo has made significant progress from his predecessor, particularly in human and infrastructural development. He stressed that he was the first state governor to approve N72,500 as the minimum wage for civil servants in the state, above the federal government’s N70,000 minimum wage approval.

The forum further applauded the governor on some of his achievements, particularly the successful conduct of the last local government election in the state without any rancour or crisis, and in the areas of security, agriculture, education and health sectors.

Okun Journalists Forum also congratulated the governor on his first anniversary in office and wished him a successful tenure as governor of the state.

Similarly, the forum appreciated the state’s former governor, Yahaya Bello for establishing the Kogi State University, Kabba, in Okunland.

This was contained in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Chief Olu Ajayi and Alhaji Abdulraheem Aodu, respectively, and made available to journalists in Kaduna.

“ The Okun Journalists Forum commends Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State for his steps in both human and infrastructural development in the state, as well as the progress achieved in areas of security, education, agriculture, and health.

“ The forum was pleased with the peace in the state before and after the local government election, which was free of rancour and crisis.

“ The Forum congratulates our governor, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo, on the occasion of his one year in office.
We wish His Excellency God’s guidance and a successful tenure as the governor of Kogi State.

“ Worthy of note is our appreciation to the immediate past governor of the state, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, for the establishment of the Kogi State University, Kabba.

“ OJF commends the governor on his strides in human and infrastructural development in the state, particularly in the areas of security, education, agriculture, and the health sector.”
