Following increasing cases of teachers going on study leaves without authorisation, Niger State commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammad has issued a stern warning against  unauthorised study leaves.

The commissioner stated this during an interactive meeting held with school managers, principals, head teachers, zonal quality assurance directors of Zone A in Bida local government area.

The meeting, which was aimed at addressing pressing educational concerns, highlighted the importance of maintaining professional conduct among educators.

She emphasised that teachers must seek proper permission before pursuing any study-related leave while underscoring the potential negative impact on students in terms of the vacuum of teaching, learning and other schools’ operations.

She added that unauthorised absence without  proper planning disrupts the educational process and can hinder students’ progress; as such, it can’t be tolerated anymore.

Dr. Hadiza reiterated the recent pronouncements by the governor,  Muhammad Umaru Bago regarding the stoppage of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) levies in all public schools.

She reiterated that this directive remained in effect until further notice from the governor, urging school leaders to comply with the new policy to ensure a unified approach to funding and resource allocation to the education sector.

She expressed  commitment to working closely with school managers and others to address challenges and promote a positive educational atmosphere for the children in the state.
